Written by Administrator
Thursday, 12 October 2006

Dave over at Poly Photo Club have installed a third modification I did with the Halloween theme, based on the Extremities template from Rocket Theme. The template is only attached to the front page so people wont get too scared about the new look.

Is your site ready for Halloween? If not then I am only a mail away.... Wink

In case you rather wanna have a go it at it yourself instead of paying me to do it - then feel free to try the tutorial out.

My illustrations
Written by Administrator
Sunday, 08 October 2006

I just wanted to show that I also do illustrations in my spare time in case someone had similar interests.

My work is done almost 100% digital in Photoshop and Painter starting with a scanned sketch and then loads of digital paint. The motives are both happy and sad and represent different stories and situations in my life. I try and aim for a story instead of realism, a good story is long lasting in my opinion.

If you want to see more of the work I do, feel free to click on the badge or this link

Rocket Theme October template release
Written by Administrator
Sunday, 01 October 2006

ImagePixel Perfect is the name.. Say hello to the October template release from Rocket Theme.

Rocket Theme's last release came early September, so the people at the forums started getting excited a week ago, but this time it came on THE 1st. of October.

And what a nice template Andy made. Pixelperfect has almost zero images, only the logo and a couple of access buttons. Well this solution could turn out to be a boring template under normal circumstances, but Andy have made some really well made CSS files that gives the template a really pro look, but also makes customizing the template a lot easier for most people. I have been told by Andy that it almost only requires 1 new CSS file to make a complete new colour version - that's really nice.

What I really like is the new module positions. In the main area you will find 9 module positions and makes story teasers an easy job, it can almost look as when using iJoomla - interesting to see what people can come up with using all those module positions (there are 13 in total)!

In the top of the template you got access to the different combinations of the template:

  • 3 different settings for brightness
  • 4 different colour combinations
  • 3 different text sizes
  • 3 different widths

These can of course be combined as the user wants with a lot of combinations.

Oh well what are you waiting for check out the demo over at Rocket Theme.

Bluehost updated their hosting plan

Friday, 29 September 2006

ImageI just saw that Bluehost has just updated their hosting plan so for the same price as before $6.95/mo you now get 50gb space and almost 1TB bandwidth every month - that's A LOT!

On top of that you can now have 6 domains on one account, great when you have many ideas for your sites... And then of course the millions of other features you come to expect from Bluehost.

Now hurry up and get your free domain and your new hosting plan. They can have it ready before the new release from Rocket Theme called "Pixel Perfect".

RT Extremities2 Halloween tutorial
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 21 September 2006

Hello again. It has been a while since the last tutorial, but time flies and.. well you know how it is. But I can say that I have missed you all, and I am looking foreward to this new tutorial.

I really feel bad about some of the templates over at Rocket Theme. Not bad as I don't like 'em, but I feel bad that some of the new ones gets so much attention, and the old one doesn't. Versatility, Versatility2, Carbonite, Mobius they are the hot stuff at the moment, and I really don\'t blame people for that - they are AWESOME!

Looking for simple templates?
Written by Administrator
Friday, 15 September 2006

Well over the time I have bought a LOT of templates and memberships to various template clubs and overall I must say that I am happy with what I got.

But what if a more simple site is wanted?

What if a client only wants a small info site where a huge amount of features and modules will be overkill.

Well I think I found a perfect site for those kind of templates. CMS Lounge is the name. They got around 40 different template with a lot of variation, but most importantly there is a huge selection of templates that focus on estethics and a minimal look - very sweet indeed!

Prices range from $15 - $40 but most of them are around $30.

Go check 'em out.

Style your search and input boxes
Written by Administrator
Friday, 15 September 2006
Tired of boring search and contact fields? With CSS we can change that very fast. Open your template_css.css file and look for something called: "div.search input" the name might look different in some templates, but you should be able to find it or something similar.

Control your Joomla frontpage
Written by Administrator
Friday, 15 September 2006

Ever wondered how you can control the amount of articles, columns and article links on the front page? I often forget where it is controlled, mainly because I always think it's in the Frontpage Manager - but nope it's not there.
