The first tutorial is focused on one of the best looking (in my opinion) templates for Joomla. The template is called Internet Gazette and is available over at Rocket Themes. The reason why I really like this template is because it doesn't look like a lot of Joomla templates that often got a portal looking theme. There are some really nice module positions and there is plenty of room to get creative with the colours.
Rocket Theme has launched a lot of new templates since Internet Gazette and a lot of them are def. more versatile, still Internet Gazette is highly recommended and can make some impact on your site.
If you have not already tried it, please take a look at part 1 of this
tutorial before attempting this step. Before we start styling the
actual CSS, there is a little more of the graphics we need to change.
Let’s begin with the menu bar. Perhaps we should try with a dark
contrast to all the bright stuff – black perhaps?
Well we are back again with the custom template tutorial, this time it’s part 3. If you have been to www.beta-code.com lately you might have seen that
the menu has changed quite a bit. I was simply hit by the sun, and
decided to skip the black bar and make a nice orange one instead. So
perhaps we should take a brief look of what I did.
Tutorial number 4 is all about content. We look at text styling and how we can apply different styles for different sections. Also an in-depth look at how we make a custom header background to make the site a little more visual and divide content better.
Tutorial number 5 is a huge tutorial, where we transform one of the early RocketTheme templates called "Blogtopia" into a coffee bar site. We make the template a lot more slim, play with colors and fonts and focus on the background graphics. The tutorial ends up with a brown coffee template, that leaves enough room for the more experimental people. The template will be available on the RocketTheme Template Club site as soon as Andy makes it public.
If you don't have the Blogtopia template to play with, I recomend to sign up for a lovely selection of pro Joomla templates, use the links on this site to support further tutorials.
If you are curious about the tutorial, you can see my version here (a lot of the colors have been changed though, but thats the fun part - right..)
