February is almost over and looking in my news section made me realize that I haven't really mentioned a lot about all the new stuff that came out for Joomla this month. As the title says it has really been a lovely month. The big template clubs released some of the best templates ever. Templates with modern looks and awesome functions that should be able to keep even the most picky Joomla guy busy... But also some of the great companies that keeps Joomla modern in terms of functionality have been busy and there are a lot of great components ready out there. Components that really enhance any persons site. So lets dig in and see what got released lately.

Well a great template called Vortex from RocketTheme was released. And as I have stated before it is more or less a benchmark template for Joomla. The template is packed with features - features with much needed functions. Custom login module, awesome tabs, great typographic styles, smooth Ajax gallery, awesome menu buttons, lots of colour variations - I could go on. And if that isn't enough for one template RocketTheme  also released a bonus news version that even got some special features so it blend in nicely with iJoomla's  new  portal news system. The bonus template is based on last months Sporticus.. So if you  got the news content  RocketTheme  &  iJoomla  can have  your New York Times killer site running in  no time... more or less.

But RocketTheme is not the only player when it comes to Joomla templates.... JoomlArt can also pack a punch when it comes to templates. They have managed to launch some great ones this month. To be more precise 4 different templates, or lets call it 2 templates and 2 variations. They are called  JA Xenia II - Gamer magazine, JA Xenia II - Shopping edition,  JA Wistery - in both artistic and a minimalistic version. And when it comes to JoomlArt templates the first that springs to my mind is typograhics. All the latest templates are packed with awesome tags, so you can have your content looking pro in no time. Special tags for hints, tips, notes, quotes etc. can really make the text stand out in a visual pleasing way. Other companies does the same, but not to the same degree at all. If I should pick out one of the four templates that really makes a difference to the Joomla community it would be Xenia II. Besides all the normal stuff you would expect from a Joomla template Xenia II is build with shopping in mind. If you have seen the big shopping component Virtuemart in action you will know that it's not THAT great looking - to be honest rather ugly. But with Xenia II this is history. Xenia II got some special styles to go with Virtuemart, so it really blends in well - custom shopping cart and all that stuff. If you are looking for a shopping solution, Xenia II andf Virtuemart are hard to beat. So kudos to JoomlArt for making one hot shopping solution!

Oh did I mention it was one HOT month for Joomla? Well let's continue down the road of brilliant stuff, there is def. more worth mentioning. TemplatePlazza have two new templates ready.. Socio Plazza and Simplethin Plazza. Socio Plazza is great for communities. The template is really well styled and comes with some really warm and fresh colours. Great use of tabs and rounded corners makes this template very friendly and great for young users. When looking at it, I come to think of music sites, video sites or something in that direction. As the name Simplethin emplies the other template from TemplatePlazza is VERY simple. Nothing fancy just pure and plain simple. But again the colours are so lovely this time with warm brown colours, really great for a small personal site or even a "business card" for a small company. TemplatePlazza club prices starts at $35 so they are def. worth a visit if you're looking for something to spice up your Joomla site.
